The rules of the road for using PICK — including the safety part, which is the one that actually matters.

These Terms govern your use of the PICK mobile app ("the App"), operated by John Larkin Verbiest, known publicly as Jake Verbiest ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms.
1. What PICK is
PICK helps you track litter cleanup activity using your phone's motion sensors and GPS. Pickup counts and weight figures are estimates produced by motion detection and calibration algorithms; we do not guarantee their accuracy.
2. Your account
Provide accurate information when signing up, keep your login credentials secure, and be at least 13 years old. You are responsible for activity on your account.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to: falsify cleanup data (e.g., simulating pickup motions to inflate scores or leaderboards); harass other users or teams; reverse engineer, scrape, or disrupt the App or its backend; or use the App for any unlawful purpose.
4. Safety — important
Cleaning up litter involves real-world risks. You participate at your own risk. Stay aware of traffic and your surroundings, wear gloves, never handle hazardous materials (needles, chemicals, broken glass, biological waste), and obey local laws and property rights. The App is a tracking tool only — it does not assess the safety of any location or item. We are not responsible for injuries, property damage, or losses arising from cleanup activity.
5. Your content and data
You retain ownership of your data. You grant us a license to store and process it to operate the App (maps, stats, leaderboards, challenges). Your display name and aggregate stats may be visible to other users. See the Privacy Policy for details.
6. Leaderboards, badges, and challenges
Scores, badges, streaks, and rankings have no monetary value and may be recalculated, adjusted, or reset (for example, to correct detection errors or remove falsified data).
7. Availability and changes
The App is provided in active development ("beta"). Features may change, break, or be removed, and data may occasionally be lost despite our efforts. We may suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
8. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND ACCURACY OF DATA. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THE APP IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS (CURRENTLY $0).
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
